Criticism Containing Books A Glamorously Unglamorous Life

I read this right before my first year of college and it definitely settled with me. Julia's journey on her own in New York City without parents or family really inspired me and taught me valuable lessons about homesicknesses and becoming independent. It's a short read, but it manages to resonate deeply regardless of length. I've written down several quotes from the book to keep with me when I start doubting my ability to live on my own.

Would have been a 4.25 if I could have rated it that. This came recommended to me by a friend who is a huge fan of the production company that the author belongs to. It's a 100 page softcover that it seems she published on her own, as evident by the numerous typos (but hey, you do what you gotta do). Her journey seems to be a future echo of what mine might be and since we graduated college the same year and share the same birthday it just seems to fit. The format of the book switches between

This is the story of then 22-year-old Julia Albain, who decided to leave home and move to NYC. The aspiring actress recounts her adventures and misadventures in the Big Apple - sometimes in a funny way, sometimes disillusioning. Although rather thin, this book, to me, is inspiring, motivating and a huge pick-me-up. Teenagers, globetrotters and fans of Team Starkid will just love it!

I found out she wrote a book while watching a Starkid Q&A. Not sure if she can write, but it's worth a try :)

This book has given me inspiration to believe that I can do what I want in life. She has reminded me that life would be boring if things happened without anything busting in to ruin plans (not that it's fun) but it is what makes life, life. Hardships are what makes us look back and go, "wow, I worked hard for that, and look where I am now!"
